Fall Remodeler's Tour

Sunday we went on the Metropolitan Builder's Association tour of remodeled homes with Andi and Brian, minus the twins! They spent the day with their Nana and Papa while we spent the day with their parents. Hah!

We all had a great time. There were a lot of great houses on the tour that we enjoyed seeing, and we made fun of the ones that were vulgar. And some were truly horrible. One in Franklin was so bad I had to try hard to keep a straight face, and it became more difficult as I heard the muttered comments and whispered expletives from our group as we moved through it.

But there were two really great houses that we loved! One was a ranch home that had a kitchen/mudroom addition exactly like the one that Andi and Brian are thinking about adding. The other was a great cape cod that had almost exactly our floor plan. They had added two dormers on the top, moving all their bedrooms to the second floor and leaving the whole downstairs to play! They knocked down a lot of walls and as a result it flowed wonderfully. I was very jealous. We had better get our butts in gear!

Our model dormer addition. Joy!

Intelligently and maturely critiquing the homes. Brian: "This looks like crap!"

This was a fun bonus on the tour. This house on Capone Court in Brookfield actually was owned by Al Capone! Very cool. The renovation was ok, but the best part was the history. Apparently the current owners opened the sealed turret in the front when they bought the home and found old liquor bottles and newspapers from 1926. They framed the papers, which dealt with Al Capone, and hung them in the hall upstairs! The nerd in me drooled....

Cheese!!

Watching TV

In that last couple of months or so, Zoe has discovered television. She loves any HD stations, but any program with big cats or little scurrying things are her favorite. Here, even though the camera didn't catch it, she is watching Eric play his new video game. If I would have been faster I would have caught her reaching up to smack Eric's character as he ran across the screen. Posted by Picasa

Ooooo...Can I have some of that butter from your toast?

Nerd Alert!

So, Eric and I have been dreadfully sick for the past week or so with colds. Eric is actually just getting over his sniffles now, but I am currently in the full bloom of sickness. I am so sick I actually came home from work today after getting high off some Maximum-Strength Sudafed. And when they say maximum, they mean it. As I sat in my desk chair, twitching, my phone was ringing off the hook as Eric repeatedly called me to see how I was doing. He had also taken some of the Sudafed, twice as much as me, topped that off with about a half-gallon of coffee. I could actually hear his teeth chattering over the phone as he tried to hold the receiver in his shaking hands. So I gave up at about 11:00 and spent the last half of today getting over my shakes on our sofa. I am finally rid of that nasty "daytime" cold medicine after burn, just in time to take some Nyquil. Hooray for modern medicine.

In any case, I spend a lot of time today watching our backlog of shows on our DVR. One thing that I was really surprised about was the documentary "The Making of Milwaukee" on Milwaukee Public Television. The first part played yesterday at seven, and the second part tonight at seven and the third part, you got it, tomorrow night at seven. The early part of the documentary was a little dull, but as historic photographs of familiar landmarks started popping up on the screen, I was interested. The cheesy computer graphics and Enya rip-off background music was a bit much, but the photographs and letters that came across the screen were fascinating.

Anyway, enough geeking out!

Kitlers? Bizarre.

I was at a loss for where to post this site, since I stumbled upon it when searching for information for Vintage Bug. But I decided since it isn't technically vintage, I would put it here.

This site posts pictures of cats that look like Adolf Hitler. Seriously. They call them kitlers.

Ok World, it is now official. The internet now has a website for EVERYTHING that you could possibly even imagine. Or things that you have nightmares about...like cats that look like Hitler....

Ethan and Logan Eating Frogurt At Our House...

Andi and Brian came over with the twins this weekend and we all enjoyed some pizza. Except for Brian, who spent the whole meal chasing after the boys, who in turn were chasing after Zoe.... :)

I'm Freezing! Turn on the Heat!

Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction....

This is a picture of my hat balanced on its bill in the corner of our closet. No special effects or special placement for this one. We were cleaning and threw it up there and it stuck!
