Dancing in the Living Room....

We are almost ready for our trip to PA. Hooray! Eric and I are down to the fun stuff, such as planning out timelines and deciding what we are going to do on our road trip to Hershey. I am very excited. Not only are we going to be free of work, but we are also going somewhere I have never been before. The only thing I am slightly concerned about is the driving, and our slight (ok, more than slight) chances of getting lost. Eric is the best husband ever, except I think his internal compass is a little cock-eyed (sorry Sue!). But I have printed out a lot of maps and I am planning on being behind the wheel for most of the driving part of the trip, so hopefully that will be good enough.

I spent most of this weekend shopping, which was blissful. I got a shrug to go over my dress and strappy gold shoes. I found Eric a belt that almost exactly matches his beloved shoes, and I got all this stuff at TJ Maxx, so that makes the budget happy as well. Eric spent time playing poker, playing video games and relaxing, so it was a good weekend for both of us.

And, AND Eric and I are learning how to dance from a DVD. I know, I know, it sounds kind of cheesy, but it is actually a lot of fun and romantic in a silly way. So far we have learned the Cha-Cha and the Foxtrot, and we have also learned that I am a terrible, terrible dancer. Without Eric leading it would be a disaster. I actually wanted to quit after they went through the first steps of the Cha-Cha, but Eric paused the DVD and taught ME how to do my part! As long as we can get to the point where we stop counting out loud to each other, we might actually be able to pull off a dance at the wedding…..

Soot suits you beautifully...

The deed is done. Eric is the proud owner of an awesome suit. We went to Men’s Warehouse on Monday and picked out a light brown suit with rust colored stripes. He looks really good in it. They have a special “tall and athletic” fit section there, so he actually had a lot of good choices and he didn’t have to settle for a blue suit like he thought he would have to. He also got a really nice pair of shoes that go well with the suit, and he likes them! It was a pretty positive shopping experience overall. Except I think it spoiled him, because afterwards we went to Kohl’s to look for a new wallet (because I am a terrible wife and I washed his in the washer…oops) and he looked around at everything and said, “This stuff all looks so cheap!” Uh-oh....

A Cross Between The Full Monty and Fargo?????

Ugh. We are so tired today. Why do we always look forward to weekends? I swear that we do more stuff in one weekend then in a whole week's worth of workdays! This weekend we saw Vanessa on Friday night, which was a lot of fun. We went out to the Chancery in Wauwatosa and then we had lemon smoothies at Culvers. We all rejoiced because Culvers is now making their lemon ice with sugar again instead of Splenda. That was a disgusting surprise last year. Blargh!
In any case, we got up really early (7:00, hah!) on Saturday and headed out to JCPennys for their big sale. Eric wanted to check on the prices of suits there, because everything was 60% off. We stayed for about 20 minutes. Eric walked around, decided everything was too cheap looking and we hustled out of there. Sigh. So many sale shoes! Oh well. We are going to go to Men’s Warehouse, I think. He had his eye on a suit there that we saw online. It was brown with an olive pinstripe, and looked really nice. So we are planning on going out there today (Monday) and taking a look at it.
After we got done running away from the mall, we stopped to see the Boy in Riverwest and go to the community-wide rummage sale. Hooray! Everyone had fun, even Eric. I found a book and Eric got a new router, but the one who made out the best was the Boy. He got a Super Nintendo, a PSOne and a PlayStation 2, all for under $20. The Playstation 2 might not work, because someone dropped it and cracked the face, but Boy and his friend Ben are good at fixing up video game systems, so he considered it a huge hall. It was pretty fun. The only thing that I was tempted to buy that I didn’t was a whole freaking HILL that was covered with Simpsons action figures, in the packages, for $4 a piece. I wanted them all, so I decided to get none. Makes sense, right? :) We have too much junk as it is without collected more things, so no matter how much I wanted that Sideshow Bob doll, it wasn’t meant to be.
That night we visited my friends Catherine and Ken in Madison. Ken has finally retired fully from teaching law at UW Madison and he just bought a new Prius, so he was very happy. Catherine recently got a promotion, and she is now head of the Madison and Baraboo trial offices for the State Public Defender. Hooray Catherine! We celebrated by going out for Jamaican food and having way, way too many mojitos. The only one who wasn’t blown away was Eric, who generously agreed to drive home.
On Sunday we did a little yard work and then lay around in the backyard. We bought two new comfy lawn chairs to lounge in, so we sat around for a few hours and read the paper. I read an article about a new movie, called Cheeseheads, which they are talking about filming about people from Wisconsin trying to get season Green Bay Packer tickets. The article said it is supposed to be “a cross between The Full Monty and Fargo”. Eric looked at me and said, “What the hell? Those don’t even go together.” But apparently they do if you are talking about the Packers. Weird.
